Scott Douglas Flushing of Canton, NC, went home to be with our Lord on July 8, 2025.
Scott fought a long and difficult battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born in Bayshore, NY, and was the youngest son of William and Eleanor Flushing, who preceded him in death. He lived in StonyBrook, NY, before his family relocated to Delray Beach, FL. Scott married and moved to Canton, NC, and built his home on Cold Mountain. He loved his home and the mountain life, and it was rare that he left for any length of time. He managed the water treatment facility in Canton, NC, for many years and took pride in his profession. He was full of life and laughter, a true prankster and proud of it. He was fun-loving, adventurous, and cherished his many pet dogs as his immediate family.
Scott is survived by his brother David (Barbara) Flushing, sister Gayle (Steven) Horn, and brother Dennis (Kat) Flushing and nephews Devon Flushing, Scott Horn, Dustin Flushing and David Horn, and nieces Kerri (Eric) Proctor, Jamie Henderson, Joy (Thomas) Henry; one great nephew, Bowden Henry; and also Edward Donlin who Scott loved as a son.
A Celebration of Life service to honor his 70 years of life will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, July 27, 2025, in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Scott's memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, PO Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741, or Sarge's Animal Rescue Foundation, Inc., 256B Industrial Park Dr., Waynesville, NC 28786.
