2 Corinthians 5:8 "To be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord" is the triumph Scott Glandon received on Saturday, May 31, 2025. He fought a fearless battle against colon, liver and bone cancer for over three years before finally surrendering to the disease. His transition from earth to heaven was a peaceful one.
Scott was born on November 21, 1965, to Ivan and Ruth Glandon. He was raised in Frankfort, Ohio with his siblings Matt, Amy and Joe. He graduated from Adena High School in 1984 and the University of Cincinnati in 1988. After college, he returned to the small town of Frankfort where he started his career and he also found the hobby which turned into a passion for coaching. Coach Glandon coached many softball, basketball and baseball teams. It was during one of these coaching ventures that he met his future wife, Amy and they were married on June 18, 1994.
Scott held other jobs during his life here on earth but nothing brought him more joy than the privilege of being a dad to Carter Jacob who was born on June 5, 2004 and Caroline Faith on December 12, 2007. He had a rich, never-ending, supportive love for his children. He enjoyed watching them play sports, excel in school and mature into beautiful, confident, God loving young adults. During Carter's many years of playing baseball, Scott could be found on the sidelines coaching or in the backyard playing toss helping Carter grow his skills. You could hear the pride in his voice when he spoke of Caroline transforming from a shy child to a beautiful, confident leader on and off the volleyball court.
Scott was blessed with the honor of having many friends. If a man's worth is measured by the friendships he accumulates during his lifetime, Scott was a rich man. He was blessed by many close friendships and a "village" of friends who loved and supported him and his family, especially during his cancer journey. It is not fair to name them all, but you know who you are and how you touched his life.
Scott is leaving here on earth, his wife of almost 31 years, Amy, children, Carter and Caroline, his mother Ruth, brothers, Matt (Susan) Glandon and Joe (Amy) Glandon, sister, Amy (Todd) Thomas and mother-in-law, Linda Brown. He was predeceased by his dad, Ivan and father-in-law, David. He also leaves behind numerous gifted nieces and nephews and many special great nieces and great nephews.
His final wishes were to be cremated. Scott also requested that there be no funeral, instead, there will be a Celebration of Life in his honor from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. June 29, 2025 in the Frankfort Presbyterian Church. A private burial will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Frankfort at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME, Chillicothe.
Scott's story started in Frankfort, Ohio and he wanted it to end in Frankfort, Ohio. So, he will be remembered there, celebrated there and laid to rest there.
The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to the hospice team that took care of not only Scott but our entire family during the last 3 months of his life. The hospice team at National Church Residences showed nothing but compassion and love for us during his final 3 weeks, days and hours. Nurse Clarissa was nothing shy of spectacular as she helped him transition from an earthly body to a heavenly soul. Although we only met a few time, nurse Brooke and Pastor Aaron, were also instrumental in helping our family with the cancer journey. Dr. Jeffrey Rose and Nurse Navigator Gina at Adena Cancer Center also gave Scott the most honest and realistic expectation when fighting the cancer battle. It was an honor to meet all of these wonderful people during our cancer journey and we will never forget you.
Scott will be remembered for his love of family and friends, acceptance of his failures, his love/hate of the Cincinnati Reds and the Cincinnati Bengals, his hatred for sweet peas, his remarkable ability to remember every sports stat from 40 years ago, his mathematical genius mind and his fierce fight until the very end.
