Scott Gordon passed away on March 13, 2025, he was born July 4, 1971, to parents Robert Gordon and Ann Mendenhall Cullum. Scott began honing his professional music skills in childhood and adolescence, studying piano, voice, guitar, and songwriting, as well as developing an understanding of recording and programming technologies. Influenced by a wide range of musical styles and acts, he began writing and recording pop songs at 14. This impressed his new friend Paul, who encouraged Scott to start a band with him. Many bands came and went - Don't Ask, The So and So's, Blues Blossom and Pod, amongst others. After a stint in New York City, Paul scouted out a new life in Vermont, and invited Scott to come start a recording studio. Many local artists were recorded, from children's choirs to punk bands to alt rock and art rock. Scott continued to write and record, and joined Paul in the band Surface Dwellers, which played around VT for several years. When this project ended, Scott turned his musical focus to musical theater. Mentored by Naomi Flanders, Scott found himself performing in HMS Pinafore, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and The Full Monty.
In 2012 Scott met Melissa and her son Arthur and they married in 2013. Scott enjoyed outdoor activities including hiking and the beach. As a family they visited many historical sites from here, VT, to Philadelphia. He also got to see his beloved Mets play in Philadelphia where the usher questioned the family in their team choices. Scott being a Mets fan and Arthur Red Sox. Scott also learned the length of Wildwood Beach in NJ. Scott was a wonderful father figure to Arthur and they could be heard giggling and causing trouble locally in stores and at home. Scott could be seen riding his bike all over central Vermont and found camping. Scott was beloved by many and will be missed. His humor, musical, and singing talents will be missed the most.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Scott's memory to the Central Vermont Humane Society,
1589 VT-14, East Montpelier, VT 05651. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

"Oh Great Scott" Scott W. Gordon. my brother Riff Raff, sibling of Magenta. Although time has warped in all the years we did this, this dance stays still forever. This lives on beyond death because we immortalized our existence in this elbow unifying action. We spared the innocent as the last survivors in the science fiction on so many stages. Although "beam me up Scotty" is all i thought with Star Trek reference of the times we beam up the entire castle back home. Our own plot twist transformation from mere servants to leaders, royalty in gold in swift character shift, I know you haven't died within anyone who remembers. Weakness became strength, chaos became order. Death is not end. Believing this is not just play pretend. We would believe we could be whoever we wanted like shape shifters upon embodying different characters. The living dead never die. Those who knew him in these roles, knows such fine acting carried over to influence and enrich our lives for the better. It's why I just don't see death as the end in this way. Im not here to make anyone feel better or to accept a too soon death, just envisioning the transcending with comparison to rising above & finally free as the inevitable goal that eventually takes us all. With a sudden stroke like a laser beam in the blink of an eye, guys, I just cant believe my brother is gone and the distance is now infinitely too far away.
His wish for donations to the humane society in luie of flowers, also gives enduring purpose and life support for so many animals. Believe me, acting like wild animals & fearsome on stages without fearing judgments did make life an escape better than death. Considering I've been summoning the deceased for some other stuff, Scott's influence will certainly still be along side in efforts for many to make it back home.

I met Scott when I lived in North Montpelier. He was that sort of person that was always kind and had something nice to say about everyone. I will miss seeing him and getting to talk to him at the store every now and then about the old days. Good journeys , Scott!
