Scott Alan Hines, of Marietta, passed away Tuesday (Aug. 6, 2013) at Marietta Memorial Hospital at the age of 49 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Cambridge, Ohio, to Donna (Mallet) and Don Hines on Feb. 24, 1964. Scott is survived by his mother and stepfather, Donna and Gilbert Rowley; three brothers, Rick of Marietta, Randy (January) Hines of Albuquerque, N.M., Steven (Dana) Hines of Cool Springs, N.C. Scott is also survived by four children, daughter, Brandi Howell of Columbus, sons, Ryan Anderson of Parkersburg, Justin Hines of Marietta, and Parker Hines of Marietta; several nieces and nephews; special niece, Stevie Laughery. Also survived by two special friends who were by his side in his battles, Brent Meadley and Bruce Short. A celebration of Scott's life will be Friday (Aug. 9, 2013) at the Williamstown American Legion Post 159 from 1 to 3 p.m. Scott was an avid sports fan, especially for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He will always be remembered for his kind heart. A special thanks to Christina Nunn, Strecker Cancer Center, and Marietta Fire Department, for saving his life many times. He was preceded in death by his father, Don Hines; maternal grandparents, Ed and Nancy Mallet; grandmother, Vivian Hines of Canton. Arrangements are being handled by Chandler Funeral Home, Caldwell. Scott is being cremated by his wishes.
