It is with deep sorrow and profound respect that we announce the passing of our daddy, Scott Huffhines-a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, and friend-who left this world on September 11, 2025, at the age of 81. Scott grew up in East Texas, in the East Mountain community. After graduating, he attended Kilgore College before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army with honor, loyalty, and unwavering dedication. His military service was a reflection of the man he truly was-honorable, trustworthy, and selfless. He carried those same values into every aspect of his life, especially in his role as a father and grandfather. Scott found his greatest joy in loving and supporting those closest to him. He had a quiet strength, a generous heart, and a deep well of love for his family. One of his most treasured ways of expressing that love was through building and crafting-particularly crosses, flags, and lamps-which he gave as tokens of his appreciation and adoration. Each gift was a reflection of his care and his desire to make others feel seen, loved, and special. He loved his country, and he loved his family even more. His life was a testament to integrity, service, and kindness. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Valerie Huffhines Burge (Tim) and Sunni Huffhines Nix (Jason); his grandchildren, Josh Burge (Sady), Carrie Owen (Kace), Emma Nix, Abby Nix, and Anna Nix; and his great-granddaughters, Camilla, Valeria, Selena, Lena, and Lily. He is also survived by his siblings, Linda Toon, Don Huffhines, Joe Huffhines (Joan), and Mark Huffhines; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and comrades. A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, with services following at 2:00 p.m. at White Oak Community Church. Graveside service will follow immediately at Morris Cemetery in Pritchett, Texas, with military honors. Pallbearers will be a six-man detachment from the 5th Special Forces Group. Honorary pallbearers include Clint Fisher, Miguel Fabiani, Jace Halbrook, Don Allen, Jim Howard, Shane Bailey and Jason Weeks. He served his country with pride and lived his life with purpose. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." – John 15:13 Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Longview.
