Scott John Lewis

Scott John Lewis, 73, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in the early morning hours of October 20, 2025, with his wife at his side. Scott was born on Salt Lake City on July 6, 1952 to Jean (Peterson) and Eldon L. Lewis. He spent his early years in Utah, later moving to Ohio with his mother and stepfather. He returned to Utah for his senior year of high school, graduating in June of 1970.

During that summer, he met his future wife, Ellen Conklin. They were married on December 26, 1970, in Salt Lake City. On December 30 1970, Scott entered the US Army, fulfilling his lifelong ambition of being a soldier. He served 20 years in various locations including the Vietnam theater, Korea, Germany, and several assignments in the United States. His wife and children joined him in Germany and all of the stateside postings.

He spent his career working and flying on helicopters, mainly his beloved Huey. His last assignment was as a platform instructor, teaching flight control systems to test pilots. He retired from the service on December 30, 1990.

He and his family moved to Utah after his retirement, settling in Clearfield. He worked again on Hueys for a contractor on Hill AFB, building flight controls for a private company in Ogden, and finally as a tool and parts attendant on Hill AFB, retiring for good on January 1, 2014.

Scott spent his spare time working on classic cars, building models of aircraft, vehicles, and the occasional ship. He also enjoyed studying military history, watching old movies and reading mystery novels.

Scott was kind and outgoing and enjoyed meeting and talking with all people. He especially enjoyed time with his family.

Scott is survived by his wife Ellen, children Christina Lewis, Angela Faulkner and Price Lewis, grandchildren Alyxzandria (Kevin) Aranda and Joey (Zoe) Faulkner, and great grandchildren Aden Roberts, Emma Aranda, and Taz Faulkner.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday November 5, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. Family and friends may visit Tuesday November 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary prior to the service.
