Growing up in Lakewood was fun and full of adventure. One of my very first childhood friends was Scott Maxey, or Scott Scott as I liked to call him. I am not sure why or where the nickname came from, but he always answered with a beautiful smile. And, Scott Scott always seemed happy, carefree, unbothered. We can stand to learn a lot about the way in which Scott Scott lived his life...fully present, true to himself, hard working and always willing to help others. Whenever any of us returned to the neighborhood, Scott Scott always made a point to check in and chat for a bit. He had a big laugh that matched his selfless personality. His light was always shining bright. You were loved and will be missed by your Lakewood family. May the Maxey family find comfort in the loving arms of GOD not only today but all the days to come. Rest well, Scott Scott. Rest well. With sympathy ~ Tonya White-Evans

Scotty grew up down the street from me and I've never seen him without a smile. He loved his job at Selma High and the people he worked with. Everybody needs one Scotty in their life. Go in peace Scott, we love you and will miss you. Sharon, Gary and Tonya White

Scott A. Maxey where do I start? I met you through you helping us clean my grandmother's house out in Selma. From their we developed a friendship through our love of food, alcohol and laughter. We always had a good time together when we hung out no matter what was going on in our life. I will always have and keep those memories alive. Now you are at peace with the Lord and no longer have this crazy world to deal with. I will always cherish the memories we have and until we meet again at heaven's gate my friend.

Though I didn't know you, my friend Sharon did. You made a huge, positive impact in her life. Thank you for that. I pray you rest peacefully. I pray your loved ones are comforted with sweet memories while you live within their hearts, until y'all meet again.

In loving memory of a loving guy and nice neighbor. Scott was one of those people who keep the world running. He had a strong work ethic and believed that if a man eats then he had to work. He was always the first to say hello to a stranger or friend and always with a smile. Most of the kids who grew up with Scott have moved but we always stopped by to say hello and he was always happy. We will love you and miss you always Scott. From Sharon, Gary and Tonya
