It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Scott Douglas McElroy, age 68, of Palm Bay, FL, who peacefully left us on August 7, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Scott touched the lives of everyone he met with his kindness, humor, and selfless devotion to others.

Scott was a man who gave all the love he had to the world, and never for one second expected or asked for anything in return. Everyone who had ever met him – from family members to coworkers to complete strangers – knew him to be the most charitable and generous man, and his presence in all of their lives will now be a void that nobody could possibly fill.

Born on September 1, 1956 in New York as the fifth of ten children to Richard McElroy and Margaret Coyle, Scott dedicated his life to his family and community. He worked as a landscaper for more than 40 years, where he took immense pride in making things beautiful, before becoming a custodian at Heritage High School in 2015. With boundless energy and timeless vitality, he was always the handyman wherever he went, and enjoyed spending his free time fixing up the home, cooking with his wife, and playing with his dogs.

Scott was a devoted and loving husband, as well as a proud father of three, stepfather to two, and grandfather to 18; each of whom brought immense joy to his life. He always made time for them no matter how busy he was, and they will all miss being able to simply pick up the phone and call him, assured that he will always answer.

He is survived by his wife, Julie McElroy, his daughter Dawn, sons Kenny and Brian, stepsons Luke and Zachary, and his 18 beautiful grandchildren.

There will be no funeral or memorial service, and in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Brevard County Sheriff's Office Animal Services -- a place that was very near and dear to his heart.

Scott's unrivaled character, generosity, and warmth will be missed by all whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace, and remain forever in our hearts.
