I had him as my history teacher a couple years ago. He was nice and got me to like history class and actually try in school, before that I always was failing school but he got me to try and achieve a better school life, thank you.

My memories of him always consist of music. I cannot listen to Billy Joel or Elton John without thinking of him even a year after the incident. He was my social studies teacher in the 2019-2020 school year so i never really even said bye to him as my teacher due to covid but i do remember enjoying his class. Hope you are resting easy Mr. Mitchell

Mr. Mitchell was my social studies teacher in 2013-2014 and my most tender and favorite memories were in his class. He thought with an immense amount of passion, it radiated throughout the classroom. You could tell he wanted everyone to be engaged and enthusiastic about the topic. He always knew how to light up a room, he always gave us candy if we got an answer correct (& had the best tips to remember acronyms and incorporated games into the topics), joked and talked about his passions outside of the classroom like the artists he listened to and the video games he played (mainly COD), etc. I remember after the first day of school, my sister asked me how my day went & we went over the syllabus for his class & I expressed my excitement to have Mr. Mitchell as my teacher. My sister gave me a brief rundown on a few of the topics and I brought what I learned to the classroom the next day. Mr. Mitchell was so impressed that I knew so much already (& I didn´t have the guts to tell him how I learned it). Later in the year, I wanted to try out for the talent show but my social anxiety was getting in the way. He pulled me aside, calmed me down, & made sure I was okay. I was so nervous during my audition (he was in charge of the music) & every time I looked over at him, he looked so proud of me, it was written all over his face. He gave me confidence I didn´t know I had, he inspired me to be a teacher when it came time to going to college. He was, and forever will be, the teacher that made the biggest imprint on my life. It breaks my heart to know how he was feeling behind closed doors, and I hope he´s at peace now.

I just had Mr.Mitchell as my social studies teacher this last year, and he was without a doubt the best social studies teacher I ever had, and I´m not saying that because he´s not with us, it´s because he really was. Everything he taught was with passion and meaning, and I could tell he wanted to see us succeed. He also recommended me for AP World History, and like other people before his suggestion, I was unsure about taking the class. But, he assured me I would do great and I am doing great. I don´t think anyone disliked him, he was real with you too, always open for discussion. He would be able to tell if someone wasn´t doing great and would ask "Do you wanna talk about it?" Another memory I have was how he got his Bachelors Degree, and how happy he was to have it. We tried to call him Dr. Mitchell and I was proud of him for doing that. It still feels odd he´s gone but I´m thankful I was able to have him as a teacher. My condolences go out to the family.

Mr. Mitchell was my teacher in 8th grade from the 2017-2018 school year. I will always remember how he seemed so serious at first, but he held such a passion for teaching and inspiring. I will never forget the experiences I had in his class, from the star wars and harry potter to billy joel.

Mr. Mitchell is the reason I am a teacher today. His class really ignited my passion for history, especially World War II. The way he taught was extremely effective. He held incredibly high standards for his students, but it was SO evident that it was because he cared so much for them. My memories from his class are still so vivid, even 15 years later. I am heartbroken for his family and the teachers at WMS. I'll always remember his love for Billy Joel and Seinfeld.

Mr. Mitchell was my 8th grade history teacher for the 2017-18 school year. Every time I listen to Billy Joel I can picture his face joking at us in class. Currently, in 2024 I am a sophomore in college, studying to be a History teacher just like him. Mr. Mitchell forever changed my life. He's the first person that set me on the course I am on now, and for that I will be eternally grateful. I'll miss you Mr. Mitchell, but I will never forget the impact you had on me and my life. Thank you.

Dr. Mitchell was my social studies teacher last year (school year 2022-2023). He was a very good teacher. He taught his subject with interest and he always gave me a feeling that he really knew what he was talking about. He was a very organized teacher. Everyday, I would walk in, sit in my desk (the closest to the door) and look at the board. He would always have an agenda there for the class period that specifically listed out everything we were going to do and how long it would take. He would usually begin class by showing a video about the current events happening in the world, but on some days he would talk to us first. He would tell us about his weekend (which usually involved golfing) or about his cat. Teaching us, Dr. Mitchell used his unit slideshows and videos. I remember anxiously studying for his tests (they were hard!) using those. His class was hard, but it was the type of class that if you worked hard, you would do well. He was a fair teacher too. For the tests, if 60% of the class got a question wrong, he would drop the question because he said he either did not teach it well enough or the question did not make sense. Dr. Mitchell was serious, but he also had a funny side. The first time I met him, he told me that it was going to be a good school year because he was in it- and it was. It was a good school year. He also had these buttons around his classroom that when pressed would say things like, "serenity now!" He really had an incredible sense of humor. One thing that I will carry with me, is how he believed in me. Just a couple of months ago when my parents and I went to Parent-Teacher conferences, he told me that he recommended I take AP World History. I ended up taking the class under his recommendation, and I don't think I would have done it if he had not believed in me first. Dr. Mitchell taught me a lot, but beyond that, he was a fantastic person that I know will be missed by many, including me. I wish to offer my condolences to his family and friends.

Mr. Mitchell was a phenomenal social studies teacher. I attribute everything I know about the world wars, Great Depression, and the 1920s to him. I was a very shy student but his class encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and ask questions. He loved Billy Joel and was always unintentionally funny. Some of my best experiences as a student and funniest memories in middle school were in his class. I hope he is at peace now. He made more of an impact than he will ever know. Your students will miss you.

He was the greatest middle school teacher I ever had. To say he was the highlight of my experience in middle school would be an understatement, middle school was a very dark time for me, and his class was one of the few things I looked forward to during that time. He had an amazing sense of humor, and was even more a kind man.
I enjoyed his class so much that I made a sweatshirt with his face on it, and I even got him to sign it at the end of the year. He thought it was a little weird at first but I still remember the laugh I got out of him when he first saw it. I still have it on my wall and it´s one of my prized possessions. His history class was the first I can remember really enjoying learning and writing about history. I just wish I could thank him for all he did for me back then, both academically and emotionally.

Scott was, in every way, his own man. He was unique in the way he dressed, spoke, and taught. I was a co-teacher with him at Woodland Middle School. Scott is the kind of man that once you meet, you never forget.
