Dr. Scott T. Penisten, age 52, died Sunday, July 16, 2023 at his home.
Scott was born November 14, 1970, in Newton, Iowa, to Tom and Karen (Browning) Penisten. He was raised in Newton and graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1989. He earned his biochemistry bachelor's degree from The University of Iowa in May 1993 whereafter he entered The University of Iowa's Medical School in the fall of 1996, graduating with honors in May of 2000.
During his medical career, he was board certified in anesthesiology, family medicine, and urgent care. He was currently the Medical Director for Care Initiatives of West Des Moines and was known to his colleagues, nurses and patients as a compassionate, caring physician.
Scott is survived by his three daughters, Sophia, Amelia, and Gabriella Penisten; the mother of his two youngest children (Amelia and Gabriella), Jen Penisten; father, Tom Penisten; brother, Todd (Amanda) Penisten; and three nephews, Christopher, Robert, and James Penisten. He was a loving and dedicated father, doubling as a Hawkeye fanatic.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home with family greeting friends one hour prior beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment will take place immediately following the funeral services at Sunset Memorial Chapel Cemetery, Des Moines, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made to the family in the form of contributions to all three of his daughters' education.
