Scott Joseph Wade

On Monday October 30th 2023 this earth said goodbye to Scott Joseph Wade. Passing suddenly due to natural causes, he was born to Arleen Cokely and William Wade in Malden, MA on March 8th 1966. Scott was loved and respected by so many. Mostly he was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, mentor, and most importantly friend. Scott is survived by his wife Donna Wade, daughter Alexzandria "Lexy" Nowlin, Son-in-law Antonio "Tony" Nowlin Sr., grandchildren Antonio "TJ" Nowlin Jr. and Lillian Nowlin, and his beloved pups Scooby, Rosie, and Kayla. He was also survived by his mother Arleen Cokely, mother-in-law Barbara Bartow, sister and her husband Stacey and Arjay Sarmiento, his aunt Ann Marie West, his stepbrother and his husband John Cokely and Keemie Von Doren, his stepsisters and husbands Brenda and Fred Scott, Amanda and John Gernon, and Kelly and Jeff Yeong, brothers-in-law’s and wives Geroge Bartow, Scott and Ellie Bartow, Gary and Corrine Bartow, and Brett and Marianne Bartow. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to whom he loved dearly.  Scott was pre-deceased by his father William Wade, stepfather Lyman Cokely, and father-in-law Neil Bartow. As well as his fur babies Zack, Johnny, Bristol, Zero, and Shelby. Scott was nothing short of a certified badass when it came to his 40-year career as a Ford Senior Master Technician. His Ford ID number was 13546 with current numbers starting in the 3 million, meaning he was among the first generation of certified Ford Technicians. He was one of the first two Ford technicians to achieve Senior Master status in New York state back in 1999. He was a seven-time Virginia Top Gun winner, and also played a big part in writing the test that exists today for the Top Gun competition across the country. Within his career he worked for several dealerships starting at Century Buick Pontiac of Kingston NY, Johnson Ford of Kingston NY, Colonial Lincoln Mercury of Kingston NY, Lacey Ford of Catskill NY, Whitten Ford of Midlothian VA, Haley Ford of Chester VA, and ending his career with 14 years at Sheehy Ford of Ashland with the title of Shop Foreman. One of his main specialties was transmissions and as much as he cussed them at home, we all know he secretly loved being the absolute best at it. On top of being the "King of Diagnostics".  Outside of work Scott loved nothing more than being at home and spending time with the love of his life, and wife of almost 35 years, Donna and his pups. It was never a question whether his daughter, son-in-law or grandchildren ever needed anything. He was there. He will always be remembered as nothing short of the best father and grandfather to them. When he did venture out, he enjoyed shooting at the gun range, working on race cars, and just spending time with friends and family. He was always a man of few words but had so much love and understanding for everyone. He will be missed more than words can say, by so many.

 

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday November 10, 2023 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834.  After the service we would love for anyone who would like to join us at Benny's Tavern, located at 3631 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834 to continue his celebration. This is a come as you are ceremony. Scott was not a formal man in anyway and wouldn't want anyone to be uncomfortable on this day. Come dressed however you feel most comfortable!
