Jimmy "Scott" Wilson
July 15, 1961 – July 6, 2025
Jimmy "Scott" Wilson, 63, of Madison, Mississippi, passed away on July 6, 2025, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born on July 15, 1961, in Monticello, Mississippi, Scott was the beloved son of Jimmy Reid Wilson and Sarah Buffkin Wilson. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1979, attended Hinds Community College, transferred to Mississippi College following his freshman year. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Mississippi College in 1983. His time at Mississippi College was filled with deep friendships and active involvement - where he served as a Resident Assistant and dorm manager and was a proud member of Circle K Men's Club. The brotherhood formed with his fellow Circle K members endured through the decades, and they faithfully reunited at every homecoming.
A charter member of the Blue and Gold Quad Tailgating Crew, Scott was instrumental in establishing the first official tailgate on the Mississippi College quad. He had a deep love for MC football, tailgating with friends, and consistently played in the annual Homecoming Golf Tournament.
In 2004, Scott was introduced to the love of his life, Pat, on a blind date - a meeting that sparked a beautiful partnership. They were married in 2011 and built a life full of laughter, love, and shared memories. Scott adored his daughter, Katie Wilson, and was a proud stepfather to Laura Ashley Rushing. He deeply valued family time, whether it was Saturdays spent golfing or being with his father at the "old place" in Monticello - two of his greatest joys.
Professionally, Scott worked as a Sales Coordinator for Peco Foods, where he was known for his easy smile, strong work ethic, and the way he never met a stranger. He had a rare gift for making others feel at ease and a warm sense of humor that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Scott was also a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Madison, where he found community and strength in his faith.
Scott is survived by his loving wife, Pat Wilson; daughter, Katie Wilson, of Jackson; step-daughter, Laura Ashley Rushing, of Flowood; his devoted parents, Jimmy and Sarah Wilson, of Madison; his sister, Suzanne Watson (Will), of Madison; and his nephews, Seth Watson (Madison) and Noah Watson.
Scott will always be remembered for his gentle spirit, quick wit, and unwavering kindness. He always had a smile on his face and a story to share. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched- with laughter, faith, and friendship.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joe Lee Griffin Hope Lodge in Birmingham, AL, a place that offered comfort and care to Scott and his family during his treatment journey. (Joe Lee Griffin Hope Lodge, 1104 Ireland Way, Birmingham, AL 35205, (205) 558-7860)
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm and funeral to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison. Internment will follow at Ephesus Cemetery, 3535 Ephesus Road, Forest, Mississippi.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Dixon, Marty Stephens, Tony Stringer, Noah Watson, Seth Watson, and Will Watson.
