Scott W. Zimmerly, 90, of Cumberland, MD, went to the great racetrack in the sky Monday, July 28, 2025, at UPMC Western Maryland.

Born March 24, 1935 in Cumberland, he was a son of the late Winfield S. Zimmerly and Stella (Grady) Zimmerly-Decker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine German and stepfather, Carl F. Decker.

Scott was in the Army National Guard and served as a mess cook and once out of the Army, never stopped cooking like he was cooking for an Army. God broke the mold when he made Scott. He was the mayor of the neighborhood and the master of ceremonies for all of the amazing parties he hosted at his house and was also, of course, the Master Chef too along with providing all of the entertainment with his witty poems he would recite and songs he would perform accompanied by his wife on the piano and his dog LB and also by playing his harmonica and accordion. Being a man of many skills and a man who would give you the shirt off of his back, he was an accomplished mechanic who was only rich from the love of his friends and family, and he practically gave everything away including his expertise and services when working on cars. You never ever left his house with an empty stomach or an empty heart which he filled with love and memories for you to cherish forever. In his early days, he was a "reckloose" racecar and motorcycle driver who was never afraid of anything even up until the day he left this earth. He also loved traveling to Florida in his motorhome with his beloved wife, Joyce, and to visit family. Speaking of family, you will never meet a man who loved his family more with tributes he created all throughout his house to honor every family member and especially his grandchildren, Zach and Zayla ("the little girl"). To know him was to love him and never ever forget him.

Surviving is the love of his life who he was married to for over 60 years, Joyce Zimmerly; a son, Brad Zimmerly and wife, Carla; grandchildren, Zachary Scott Zimmerly and Zayla Rachelle Zimmerly both of Pittsburgh, PA; nephews and niece, William Brian German of Easton, MD, David Lynn Ogden of Cresaptown, Tonya Ogden VanMeter of Cresaptown, Peter Douglas Ogden of Colorado.

Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, on Thursday, July 31st from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.

Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Friday, August 1st from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., and a funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Doug Seaman officiating.
