Scotty Lee Simpson, lovingly known as "Big Red" to his many friends, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Baton Rouge General Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Born on June 24, 1964, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to Estel Simpson, Jr. and Lana Sue Simpson, Scotty brought laughter and kindness to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. A graduate of Tensas Academy in 1982, Scotty began farming in Tensas Parish, LA in 1983.

Scotty had a gift for cooking, which was not just a hobby but an expression of love. He found joy in tending his garden, carefully growing the vegetables and spices that he would later turn into delicious meals for his family and friends. He loved baking his signature chocolate chess pies for family gatherings and his gumbo and étouffée were regularly requested for social events. With patience and heart, Scotty poured himself into every dish, creating moments of connection and comfort around the table.

Beyond the kitchen, Scotty enjoyed spending time outdoors. Whether golfing, hunting, or simply enjoying the beauty of nature, he cherished those moments with his loved ones. Scotty loved music and to dance. He was never afraid to "cut a rug," bringing smiles and laughter. One of his greatest joys was taking a drive around Lake Bruin-through Tensas Parish to Natchez and back, enjoying a favorite drink and listening to the music he loved-always happiest when sharing those moments with his beloved daughter, Amanda.

A true pillar of the community, Scotty gave freely of his time, energy, and wisdom. He supported local events that brought people together and was often sought out as a steady voice of reason and encouragement. His presence made a lasting impact, and his legacy will continue to live on through the lives he touched.

Scotty's memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him. His laughter and love of life will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. Though his absence will be deeply felt, the joy he brought to others will live on as a cherished part of his legacy.

Scotty is preceded in death by his father Estel Simpson Jr. , son Joseph Lee Simpson, and brother in law Hank Rabb.

He is survived by his mother Lana Sue Simpson of Natchez, MS., daughter Amanda (Joseph) Krieg of Middletown, DE, sister Patty (Jesse Guzman) Rabb of St. Joseph, LA, brother Brian (Karri) of Natchez, MS., granddaughter Addison Krieg of Middletown, DE, niece Emily Rabb of Baton Rouge, LA, nephew Wesley Simpson of Natchez, MS, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that loved him dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Carriage House in Natchez, MS. Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Donnie VandeVen and Rusty Jenkins will speak.

A private family gravesite service will be Friday, September 12, 2025 at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton, LA with Britt Keahey as speaker.

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to Tensas Academy, PO Box 555 St. Joseph, LA 71366 or a charity of your choice.
