Sean Gordon Blake, age 41, passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2023. He was born on November 27, 1982 in
Hartford, Connecticut. He is survived by his wife, Sharlene LaCroix, his mother Sandra Jackson-Blake, and his three sisters: Carolyn Blake, Bettie Borge, and Katie Marquis. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Josh Marquis, his nieces, Emily Borge; Oliva Borge; Megan Blake and his nephew, Leo Marquis, his beloved dog, Emme, his ferret, Simon, and a multitude of aunts, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Edwin Gordon Blake. Sean loved his family and friends with ferocity.
Sean attended Granby High School and then went on to explore several different careers before deciding on carpentry. He was a carpenter for over 20 years and was an expert in his field. He started his own business, Welcome Home Improvement, with his wife, Sharlene, in 2017. He used his incredible vision and ability to think outside the box to create solutions and build beautiful spaces in people's homes.
Sean was the definition of generosity. In his younger years, he selflessly gave part of his liver to save a friend's life so that she would live on to be a mother to her child. Since his passing, he has donated his organs so that others can have another chance at life.
Sean was the type of man who would befriend anyone and he filled the room with laughter and light everywhere he went. He loved to make a grand entrance. He was always willing to give to a complete stranger and encouraged others to do the same. He would drop everything to help a friend. He was eccentric, bold, and found wonder and excitement in places where we may miss it or take it for granted.
In Sean's own words, "I take great joy in knowing I've lived more life in 40 years than most would in 200. I'm thankful for the time I was allotted and endeavor to be a flame in a world that needs more light. In a world that knows darkness, that is in pain, let's bring light, let's patch wounds, let us spread love to those who lack it. I hope you find it in your heart to illuminate the path for those behind you. I'm telling you now, you will have a better day when you help another person have a better day."
We are so proud of Sean and the legacy of generosity, love, and light that he has left behind. We should all strive to be more like Sean.
