Sean John Garnet Mabe, age 59, of Purdon, Texas, passed away on October 2, 2025. He was born May 1, 1966, in Findlay, Ohio, to Samuel Mabe and Gloria Bertoline. Sean was the kind of man whose presence filled a room-not because he asked for attention, but because he brought a peace and light that people naturally felt. He was kind, funny, and steady, with a way of making everyone feel welcome. He had a deep joy about life-never taking it too seriously, always finding laughter even when things were hard. Sean was proud of his Squamish heritage and deeply honored his role as an Elder within the tribe. He carried that wisdom and respect throughout his life-teaching through quiet strength, humor, and humility. He understood what it meant to walk with dignity and to honor both people and the earth. A man of strong hands and a stronger faith, Sean worked hard all his life and gave his best in everything he did. But his greatest work was loving others. He always put people first, making sure those around him were cared for, comfortable, and happy. He had a gift for knowing when someone needed a lift, and he gave freely of his time and spirit. Through his love, his faith, and his words, Sean touched lives-and he led many souls to the Lord. Sean was an old soul with a rock-and-roll heart. Music was his rhythm and his refuge. He loved those long, easy moments of conversation and laughter-where stories, songs, and a little quiet reflection made the world slow down. Those who knew him best will smile at that memory, knowing exactly the kind of peace he loved to share. Sean loved God deeply. His faith was personal, unshakable, and filled with grace. He often reminded those around him to hold on to their faith, to love without judgment, and to never be afraid to lean on the Lord. His greatest wish was for his family and friends to find peace in that same love and to accept Jesus as their Savior. He believed that love was the truest legacy a person could leave behind-and his own life proved it. His family was his pride, his joy, and his purpose. Visitation with the family will be held Friday, October 10, 2025, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, with burial following at Mitchell-Mabe Private Family Cemetery. Sean is survived by his children: John Mabe and fiancée Amanda, and Kristen Mabe and husband Brent Mitchell, and their mother and his lifelong best friend Cindy Mabe; his bonus children Chelsi Coker and husband Bobby, and Christopher Brightman and wife Rachel; siblings Tony Mabe, Troy Mabe, Todd Hammer, Shelly Hammer, Samantha Johnson, and Sammy Mabe; his bonus mom Sandy Mabe-Garnier; and his partner Carol Melton. He is also survived by his grandchildren Katelyn, Jason, Willow, Sean, Kurtice, Mayc, Lexi, Chloe, Walker, Kai, Matthias, Stella, Devlin, and Dillon, and his great-granddaughter Salem. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Greg Hammer. Sean also leaves behind a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless other family members and friends who loved him dearly and will carry his memory forward. Sean's legacy of love, laughter, faith, and music will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his light, his strength, and the countless lives he helped guide closer to God. "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." - John 14:27
