U.S. Navy Commander Sean Patrick Quinlan, born on November 30, 1976, left this world a darker place when he passed on September 13, 2024, at the young age of 47. Whether fighting for liberty and freedom or sharing his various artistic passions, he was driven to excellence. Sean was truly a modern renaissance man and made the world a better place by simply existing. Many knew him as a man of great honor and integrity, but he let a chosen few witness the true tenderness and depth of his heart. If you were one of the chosen few, you were blessed with unyielding love and bore witness to a soul who experienced pure exuberance in the smallest of things from a truly excellent dish he prepared and shared, to growing ghost peppers, to his beloved Chiefs winning the Super Bowl. Sean is survived by his wife Jessica, sister, Kelly and her husband Mitch, their children, Cale and Kiera Patterson, and his father, Greg Quinlan. We mourn a loss that can never be truly expressed but find solace that Sean is no longer suffering with multiple sclerosis, and is reunited with his mother Kedrin, and fur daughter, Sadie in the peace and loving arms of the Lord our God.
There aren't enough words of praise that will ever do Sean justice. To say he was loved and will be missed is a vast injustice, as he will continue to be loved and cherished. We ask those who have been touched by him or someone similar to volunteer in their community. To help those in need, human and animal alike, to spread kindness and make a consistent effort to better the world. We pray that all of us can have a fraction of the strength of character that Sean exhibited daily to consistently do what is right even when difficult or frightening. If we all commit to being the best versions of ourselves, maybe we can make up a fraction of the good that was taken when Sean was returned to the heavens.
