Sebastian Gonzalez Quiñones

Sebastian Gonzalez Quiñones entered the Lord's heavenly kingdom peacefully on the evening of September 28, 2025, surrounded by his family at the age of 92 in Edinburg, TX.

Sebastian was born in the town of Sauz de Abajo San Juan del Rio, Durango, Mexico, on March 2, 1933, to Ascencion Gonzalez Arambula and Maria de la Luz Quiñones Acuña. In May 1975, he married the love of his life, Bertha Saucedo, and welcomed three children over the following years. His legacy of love extended to all his family including his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was always dressed in his western attire, which included his boots and sombrero. His love of music, specifically Los Alegres de Teran, was heard throughout the house as he listened to it for all to hear. He loved his Mexican food, with his favorites being tacos, gorditas and caldo de res, which always included a cold Mexican coke. He travelled with his grandchildren to many places including, South Padre Island, San Antonio, Austin, California, and his beloved Durango. As a devout Catholic he made sure to pray over all his loved ones, before every meal and before going to bed.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Saucedo, his siblings, and two granddaughters, Joanna Gonzalez and Michelle Gonzalez.

Mr. Gonzalez is survived by his three children, Maria Guadalupe Gonzalez (Fernando), Graciano Reyes Gonzalez, and Juana Gonzalez (Alfredo). His grandchildren who loved him, dearly Bertha Garcia (Martin), Beatriz Tenorio (Jose), Brenda Flores, Miranda Guajardo, and Fernando Gonzalez. His great-grandchildren, Brianna Peralez, Daniel Peralez, Mateo Guajardo, and Santiago Tenorio.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 pm with a prayer of the Holy Rosary at 7:15 pm on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Rivera Funeral Home, 1901 Pecan Blvd. in McAllen. A Memorial service of Christian burial will be held at 10am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 2201 Martin Ave, McAllen, TX, 78504. Interment will follow at La Piedad Cemetery, 1801 Wichita Ave. in McAllen.

Sebastian Gonzalez Quiñonez entró en paz al reino celestial del Señor la tarde del 28 de septiembre de 2025, rodeado de su familia, a la edad de 92 años en Edinburg, Texas.

Sebastian nació en el pueblo de Sauz de Abajo, San Juan del Río, Durango, México, el 2 de marzo de 1933, hijo de Ascension Gonzalez Arámbula y Maria de la Luz Quiñonez Acuña. En mayo de 1975, se casó con el amor de su vida, Bertha Saucedo, y dio la bienvenida a tres hijos durante los años siguientes. Su legado de amor se extendió a toda su familia, incluyendo a sus nietos y bisnietos.

Siempre vestía su atuendo vaquero, que incluía botas y sombrero. Su amor por la música, en especial por Los Alegres de Teran, se escuchaba por toda la casa. Amaba la comida mexicana, y sus favoritos eran tacos, las gorditas y el caldo de res, que siempre incluían una Coca-Cola mexicana bien fría. Viajó con sus nietos a muchos lugares, incluyendo la Isla del Padre, San Antonio, Austin, California, y su amado estado de Durango. Como católico devoto, se aseguraba de rezar por todos sus seres queridos, antes de cada comida y antes de acostarse.

Le precedieron en la muerte su esposa, Bertha Saucedo, sus hermanos y sus dos nietas, Joanna Gonzalez y Michelle Gonzalez. Al Sr. Gonzalez le sobreviven sus tres hijos: Maria Guadalupe Gonzalez (Fernando), Graciano Reyes Gonzalez y Juana Gonzalez (Alfredo). Sus nietos, que lo querían entrañablemente, son Bertha García (Martin), Beatriz Tenorio (Jose), Brenda Flores, Miranda Guajardo y Fernando Gonzalez. Sus bisnietos: Brianna Peralez, Daniel Peralez, Mateo Guajardo y Santiago Tenorio.

El velatorio se llevará a cabo de 3 a 9pm, con el rezo del Santo Rosario a las 7:15 pm el jueves 2 de octubre de 2025 en la Funeraria Rivera, ubicada en 1901 Pecan Blvd., en McAllen. El servicio conmemorativo y el entierro cristiano se llevarán a cabo a las 10:00 am en la Iglesia Católica del Espíritu Santo, ubicada en 2201 Martin Ave, McAllen, TX 78504. El entierro se realizará posteriormente en el Cementerio La Piedad, ubicado en 1801 Wichita Ave., McAllen.
