Selma Bannis

Mother Selma Anesta Bannis entered this world on a partly cloudy Sunday, June 4th, 1938 in the beautiful island of Antigua, West Indies to the proud parents, the late Eleazer and Clarissa Williams.
She relocated from Antigua, West Indies to the picturesque island of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, where she accepted Christ at a very young age.
Mother Bannis began her career in 1979in the food service industry at Governor Juan F. Lewis Medical Center. In 2003, she retired from her job after working for 24 years and married Brother Bernard Bannis. She and Brother Bannis served faithfully in a myriad of positions at their church. Her unwavering faithfulness and willingness to accept God's call resulted in her pastor appointing her as deaconess in her church.
In 2017, Brother Bannis went home to Glory and Hurricane Maria damaged Mother Bannis home greatly. For that reason, her only beloved son, Pastor Franklin S. Jackson, and his loving wife, Lady Vanessa Jackson. Welcomed Mother Bannis into their home.
Mother Bannis became a member of the House of God Church, Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of her darling son, Pastor Jackson. She enjoyed singing to the LORD and making melody in her heart. Additionally, her love for God and His Word resulted in her being a great example for young women to emulate in serving God.
In addition to her loving parents and husband. Mothe Bannis was preceded in death by her siblings: Edris, Earl, Beryl, Francis, and Samuel Williams, Vera Challenger, and Naomi Erskine.
We praise God for giving to the world the gift of Mother Bannis. Her beautiful smile and loving personality, shall never fade into oblivion, but will forever be felt flowing through the life of her dearest son, Pastor Franklin S. Jackson and his wife, Vanessa K. Jackson, Clarksville, TN; four grandchildren, Jerome(Amanda) Jackson, Centerville VA; Jaleesa Jackson, Jaleel Jackson, James(Alexis) Jackson all of Clarksville, TN; two great grandsons, Eli Jackson, Centerville, TN and Josiah Jackson, Clarksville, TN, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, family and friends. Visitation Friday Sept. 24, 2021, 5-7 at Hooker funeral home. Survived by loving family. Funeral Saturday, September 25, 2021 12:00 noon at House of God Church 1810 Memorial Drive. Burial in Riverview Cemetery.
