Sergio Gomez Moreno, 67, of Sioux City, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at a Sioux City hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and brother, leaving behind a legacy of love and hard work.
Sergio's life will be celebrated during visitation with the family on Friday, February 28, 2025, beginning at 4:00 PM, followed by a prayer service at 6:00 PM, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, located at 3220 Stone Park Blvd, Sioux City, IA 51104.
Sergio was born on February 24, 1957, in Huetamo, Michoacán, the son of Juan Gomez Olyao and Salud Moreno. He lived in California before relocating to Sioux City.
Sergio had a fulfilling career, working at both Curly's Foods and Palmer Candy, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He exemplified a personality that was both active and humorous, with a notable zest for life. Sergio enjoyed cooking and grilling out, often bringing family and friends together for shared meals and laughter. His outgoing nature and commitment to staying busy made him a beloved figure among those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Silvia Calderon; his children Alicia Calderon (Jaime), Victor Calderon, Sergio Gomez (Marianita), Sandra Gomez (Oswald Berríos) , Angel Gomez, Paula Gomez (Erving), Javier Gomez, Yasel Gomez, Janet Gomez, and Nicasio Gomez; as well as 13 grandchildren who cherished their time with him. Sergio also leaves behind two brothers and two sisters.
His parents, Juan Gomez Olyao and Salud Moreno, predeceased him, but their spirit and teachings undoubtedly shaped his character. Sergio's presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.

Sergio Gómez Moreno, de 67 años, de Sioux City, falleció el lunes 17 de febrero de 2025 en un hospital de Sioux City, rodeado de su querida familia. Fue un hijo, esposo, padre, abuelo y hermano devoto, que dejó un legado de amor y trabajo duro.
La vida de Sergio se celebrará durante la visita a la familia el viernes 28 de febrero de 2025, a partir de las 4:00 p. m., seguido de un servicio de oración a las 6:00 p. m., en Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, ubicada en 3220 Stone Park Blvd, Sioux City, IA 51104.
