Gary Clifford Aalfs, 90, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. Born on October 9, 1934, in Algona, Iowa, Gary was raised in Sioux City, where he developed the sharp intellect and strong values that would define his life.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and the Army Reserve. Gary spent over 30 years at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in Southern California, where his focused, logical mind and engineering expertise contributed to meaningful advancements in aerospace technology.

In addition to his engineering career, Gary was an entrepreneur at heart. He ran a jewelry business and later founded a company that manufactured precision springs used in 3.5" computer disksan innovative contribution during the early era of personal computing.

After retiring, Gary pursued his passions for golf and genealogy. He approached both with the same thoughtful precision and quiet determination that defined his life. Known for his subtle, dry sense of humor, Gary had a fond appreciation for classic wit, especially enjoying the comedy of Bob Newhart.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Aalfs; his two sons, Jacob Aalfs and David Aalfs; his brother, Bailey Aalfs; five cherished grandchildren: Michael, Lauren, Jonathan, Alexander, and Jacob; and one great-grandchild, Liam. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather who will be remembered for his intelligence, integrity, and the quiet humor that brought warmth to those around him.
