Severa Eckols

Severa O. Eckols, a remarkable woman of strength and grace, passed away peacefully on June 7th, 2024 at the age of 95. Born on May 13th, 1929 in Beeville, TX, Severa was an embodiment of resilience and love.
Severa's life was anything but ordinary. Though she never formally held a job, she was never idle. Her work was in the home, in the garden, in the kitchen, and most importantly, in the hearts of those she loved. Her care and nurturing were her career, and she excelled at it. She was a masterful home cook, her recipes a blend of tradition and innovation, a tangible testament to her creativity and love for her family. She was a woman of strong faith, her spiritual fortitude an anchor for those around her. She was a woman who believed in the power of love and forgiveness, always quick to lend a hand or offer a kind word. Severa was a loving and giving mother that would place everyone before herself. She was a lifelong member of our Lady of Victory Church, and also belonged to St. Anne's Society. One of her greatest joys was volunteering at the church and baking sweets for the Bingo games. She enjoyed reading and especially writing letters and sending greeting cards to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Eusavio and Ramona Olivarez, brothers - Reynaldo Olivarez, Raymond Olivarez and Bennie Olivarez; sisters, Petra Brown, Dolores Villerreal, Maria Isabel Garza and grandson Joseph Ralmuto.
She is survived by son, Jesus O. Salinas and daughter, Mary Frances Ralmuto. She is blessed with three grandchildren, Sharon, Jessica and Christopher, 5 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

A private family graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at Beeville Memorial Park.
Severa's life was a beautiful journey, one marked by love, resilience, grace, and faith. She has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
