Seymour Weiner

Seymour "Poppi" Weiner 90, of Leawood, KS passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on September 6, 2022. Funeral Services will be held at 1pm Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, MO. Interment will be at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery.
Seymour was born October 15, 1931 to Albert and Martha (Jaben) Weiner in Kansas City, MO. After graduation at the age of 16 from Paseo High School, he attended two years at the Kansas City Junior College. He then enlisted and served four years in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He met Felicia Friedman on a blind date, and it was love at first sight. The two were married six months later after she proposed to him! They both became lifelong members of Kehilath Israel Synagogue.
In 1957 he founded Krest Originals, Inc. a ladies clothing manufacturing company in the old Kansas City Garment District. Seymour ran Krest Originals for 23 years. At the time of closing his company in 1980, Krest Originals was one of the last remaining manufacturers in Kansas City. He then represented several coat lines, and traveled the entire Midwest. Prior to his retirement at the age of 80, Seymour was thought of as "The Mayor" at clothing markets. Sales reps often congregated around his booth enjoying his humor, magic tricks and candy selection. Chocolate was his favorite food group!
Seymour had a lifetime love of magic. Later in life, he enjoyed woodworking and gained much pride and joy in making treasures for family members. Our Poppi will certainly be remembered as a jokester with his quick witted sense of humor, but even more as a kind and true gentleman. His warmth, compassion, and caring smile was infectious to all. Everyone who met him instantly fell in love with him.
Seymour was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Martha Weiner, as well as his sister, Dolores Bush, sister-in-law, Marlene Krakow. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Felicia Weiner; his adoring daughters, Mindy (Davey) Wajcman, Shelly Weiner Maguire (Frankie Tedesco), and Lori (Mike) Seligson; his grandchildren, Joshua (Andrea) Wajcman, Danny (Sara) Wajcman, Kaley (Jon) Schwartzbard, and Blake Seligson. Great grandchildren, Matanel, Kira, Maya, Shayna, Jonah, Eliana, Noah, and Danielle. He also leaves his brother-in-law AKA little brother Gary (Patti) Friedman; his loving nieces, nephews, and cousins that he thought of as his own children. He will be missed by his large number of extended friends, to which he considered family.
Seymour is missed by many, and was loved by all.
