Sgm David Edgar Sellers

SGM (Ret) David Edgar Sellers, 88, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, died on November 21, 2025, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Clay Hahn and Bro. Chuck Weaver officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Edgar Sellers; mothers, Myra Irene (Chapman) Sellers and Viola Corine (Fulgham) Sellers; wife, Patricia Mae (Cook) Sellers; brothers, Ralph Chapman Sellers (Polly), Richard Wayne Sellers, and William Ray Sellers (Gail); sisters, Ruth Ann Sellers and Nona Joyce Sellers.
Survivors include his sister, Carolyn Elizabeth Gilbert (Ron); brothers, Charlie Harlin Sellers (Charleen) and Joseph Ronald Sellers; children, Myra Lynn Sellers Lancaster (Keith), Russell David Sellers, and Gregory Allan Sellers; grandchildren, Michael Bates (Sara), Brandy Castleberry (Bennett), and Brittany Castleberry (John Cole); great grandchildren, Hunter Bates, Hadley Bates, Harper Bates, Austin Harper, Brasher Castleberry, John Nelon Castleberry, Annalynn Castleberry, Merynn Castleberry and Bennett (Bennie Lou) Castleberry; nephews, Ashley Windham (Wendy), Cole Windham, and Wesley Windham; special nephews that he helped raise, Josh Sanders and Jacob Gwozdzik, Cory Albright and Chris Albright; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Mr. Sellers was a member of the Wildwood Baptist Church and loved his church family. Mr. Sellers joined the National Guard (31st Dixie Division) while in Holt High School. After high school he joined the U.S. Army and served his country in Korea. He continued his military career in the Alabama National Guard while working at the Central Foundry Co., Gulf States Paper Corp, and retired from civil service with Alabama National Guard (President 1981-1982 ENGAA), compiling over 42 years of military service.
Honorary pallbearers are Scottie Hardin, members of Holt Methodist Church, Holt Baptist Church, Wildwood Baptist Church, Alabama National Guard, Veterans 31st Dixie Division, 31st Bde Alumni Association (old National Guard buddies) employees, retired and present OMS #9, employees and volunteers V.A. Medical Center, and Class of 1955 Holt High School.
Pallbearers will be Ashley Windham, Cole Windham, Jacob Gwozdzik, Josh Sanders, Bennett Castleberry, and John Cole Castleberry.
