Shane Steven Mihalow, 45, of St. Paul, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, October 4, 2025.
Born in Minneapolis to Donna (Graves) Mihalow and Craig Mihalow, Shane grew up surrounded by family, siblings, laughter, love, and just enough chaos to keep life interesting.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Sarah, with whom he shared twelve wonderful years of marriage after tying the knot on June 8, 2013. Together they built a beautiful life rooted in family, faith, love, and laughter, cherishing every moment with their two children, Rose and Teddy - the absolute lights of his life.
Shane is also survived by his parents, Donna and Craig Mihalow; siblings, Ally (Darryl) Lidel, Angi Mihalow, and Joshua Mihalow; father-in-law, David Maschka; brothers-in-law, Chad Maschka and Scott Maschka; and sister-in-law, Katie (Fritz) Maschka - as well as the many nieces and nephews he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his mother-in-law, Carol Maschka, and his nephew, Rashaan.
Shane had a special gift for finding humor in everything. Whether through a quick-witted comment or a perfectly timed joke, he could make anyone laugh and was truly the life of every gathering. He loved technology so much that sometimes his kids suspected he was secretly a robot with a heart of gold. Rose and Teddy knew they could always count on him for a perfectly timed joke, a playful prank, or a silly story that made the day brighter. Beneath the humor was an incredibly caring soul - patient, compassionate, and endlessly kind.
Throughout his career in Information Technology, Shane thrived in Helpdesk support roles, where his calm nature and genuine desire to help others shone through every day. He loved what he did and the people he helped along the way.
He had a curious fascination with eagles - drawn to their power and grace - and a big heart for all animals. He loved traveling, from Caribbean cruises to relaxing "up north" at a cabin, and had a true appreciation for both adventure and quiet moments.
Above all, Shane was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. His laughter, warmth, and generosity touched everyone lucky enough to know him. His legacy will live on in the love he gave, the humor he shared, and the countless lives he made brighter.
We're certain he's already charming the angels, troubleshooting the Wi-Fi in heaven, and keeping everyone laughing - just like always - while soaring like the eagles he admired, leaving his love, faith, and laughter rooted here with all who knew him.
