Shannon Dale Cress, 70, of Eubank, Kentucky, passed away on February 14, 2024, in Eubank. Shannon was born on June 6, 1953, in Eubank to Estill and Susie (Glass) Cress.
Shannon was a man who loved everything outdoors. His favorite activities included coon hunting and fishing. He loved nothing better then to listen to that beautiful sound of those coondogs sitting treed.
Despite not being wealthy, Shannon took great pride in being there for his friends and family. He gave all he had to show his true friendship and caring love to those in need. Shannon's love was expressed through his actions rather than words, making it clear to those around him that they were cherished.
Shannon is survived by his ex-wife and best friend, Ms. Gay Carolynn Alexander Cress. He is also survived by his six brothers and three sisters: Charles (Geraline) Cress, Verlan Cress, Bobby (Carolyn) Cress, Earlin "Dude" (Alaine) Cress, Linton (Connie) Cress, Johnny "John Wayne" (Wanda) Cress, Marslene Littrell, Charlotte Cress, and Linda Carolyn Cress. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
One special cousin, Donnie Ray Glass who is a Brother by choice.
In addition to his immediate family, Shannon is also survived by his step-son, Barry Wayne Johnson (Kathy Gallimore), and three step-grandchildren: Tara Johnson, Savanna (Chad) Owsley, and Jonas (Katie) Johnson. He is also survived by seven step-great-grandchildren.
Among his beloved relatives; Shannon had a special bond with Jimmy Dale Roberts, whom he loved like son. “Pops loves you, Take it easy”.
Shannon’s twin sister whom he loved dearly, Charlotte Cress. “Love you ChaLaLa”.
Shannon’s niece and caregiver, Louanne Cress Heist.
Shannon was preceded in death by his parents, Estill and Susie Cress, and four brothers: Odell Cress, Leles "Lee" Cress, Olen Cress, and Daris Cress. He was also preceded in death by two sisters: Velda Cress Combs and Shirley Cress Johnson.
Shannon experienced the heartbreaking loss of his first wife, Linda Kay Johnson Cress, and their beloved son, Rodney Dale Cress.
A funeral service will be held at 4 PM Friday, February 16, 2024 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Stephens and Bro. Jacob Pelston officiating.
Burial will be in Cress Cemetery.
The family will receive friends after 1 PM Friday, February 16, 2024 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home until time for services.
