In Loving Memory of Shannon Flanery Lopez
October 22, 1974 – July 23, 2025
With deep sorrow and steadfast faith in the promise of eternal life, we announce the passing of our beloved Shannon Flanery Lopez on July 23, 2025, at the age of 50. A devoted wife, nurturing mother, cherished grandmother, beloved sister, and faithful friend, Shannon left this world peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family and the comfort of her Catholic faith.
Born on October 22, 1974, Shannon lived a life marked by grace, strength, and compassion. She carried herself with quiet dignity and a servant's heart, always putting others before herself. Her life was a testament to the virtues she held dear – faith, hope, and, above all, love.
Shannon was the beloved wife of Paul Lopez, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage rooted in deep faith, enduring friendship, mutual respect, and unwavering devotion. Together, they created a family filled with laughter, prayer, and unconditional love.
She was the proud and loving mother of Chase Lopez (and his wife, Jaylin), Jared Lopez, Ethan Lopez (and his wife, Nikki), and Colton Lopez. Her children were her greatest joy and strength, and she guided them with the gentle, prayerful hand of a mother who always led with love. Her role as "Coco" – a name lovingly given to her by her grandchildren – brought her special delight. She treasured every moment spent with Eli and Reese, the beloved children of Ethan and Nikki. Shannon is also survived by her sister, Melissa Cain, and Melissa's husband, Adam Cain, as well as their three daughters – Halley, Abbie, and Avah.
Shannon's Catholic faith was the foundation of everything she did. A faithful parishioner and devoted daughter of the Church, she lived her faith daily – through acts of quiet kindness, unwavering trust in God's providence, regular Mass attendance, and the loyal wearing of her brown scapular. Her rosary was never far from her hands or heart, and her deep devotion to the Blessed Mother sustained her through life's joys and trials.
She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, faith, and unconditional love – one that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Whether through a warm smile, a listening ear, or a heartfelt prayer, Shannon had an extraordinary way of making those around her feel seen, loved, and valued. She was a friend to many and a light in the lives of all who crossed her path.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated in Naples, Italy, on July 31, 2025, in her honor – entrusting her soul to the mercy of our Lord and the loving embrace of Our Blessed Mother. Her Christian burial will take place on August 14, 2025 at 9:00 am at St. Mary Funeral Center 6509 Fruitridge Road Sacramento CA 95820. Through the sacred rites of the Church, we rejoice in the hope that Shannon now rests in the eternal peace of Christ, reunited with those who have gone before her and lovingly watching over those she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that prayers be offered for the repose of Shannon's soul and, if desired, donations made to a Catholic
charity of your choice in her memory.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
