Shari Ann Myers, age 59, of Newell, Iowa died Thursday, September 14, 2023 in Early, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at Faith Bible Church in Sac City, Iowa on October 28, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.. Funeral Service #2 will be Nov. 4 at noon until 2pm in Iowa City at the Diary Queen located at 660 Eastbury Drive on the east side of Iowa City. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell is in charge of the arrangements.
On September 14, 2023, Shari Ann (Louis) Myers long jumped over the river Jordan, cartwheeled thru the Pearly Gates, and jumped into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His response of course, "Well done good and faithful servant!"
Waiting to greet heaven's newest arrival were her father, Bud, mother, Betty, and brother Gary Louis. They had been one of Iowa City's most well-known families. Shari was born in Iowa City on October 26, 1963. She graduated from City High School in 1982 where she was an outstanding long-distance runner, qualifying for high school state competition in both cross country and track. She also won varsity letters in those two sports in all four years of high school.
Shari was also an accomplished triathlete and member of the Iowa City Bike racing team. She competed in many fun runs and road races where she could show off her running ability. Sweet Shootin' Shari could also 'knock a speck off a bug's behind at 50 paces' with a.22 rifle.
On June 11, 1988, Shari was united in marriage to Jesus Vazquez of Omaha, NE. That union was blessed with three outstanding children, Ben and Joey of Early, IA, and Nena of Lincoln, NE. Eventually that marriage ended and on March 20, 2014, Shari married the love of her life and her soulmate forever, Jeff Myers of Newell, IA.
Shari was known for her many abilities, accomplishments, and her contagious smile. She loved everyone and was everyone's best friend! She didn't have a mean bone in her body and was known to many as 'Sweet Shari'. She was an vey accomplished horsewoman and especially loved dogs, cats, and all God's creatures (except goats).
A devout follower of Jesus Christ, Shari was known to hand out Gospel Tracts (thousands) to strangers and those she knew. She was an avid listener of BOTT Christian Radio and was a on a lifelong mission to spread The Word to all she met. She especially loved the Faith Bible Church in Sac City!
Simply stated, Sweet Shari was the best mother, wife, sister, and friend of all time. She went ahead of many loved ones and got to go to heaven early for good behavior. She encouraged everyone to remember "the Best is yet to come!"
Many friends and family wait here on planet earth to join her in heaven. Some of those are her children Ben, Joey, and Nena; Husband Jeff Myers of Newell, Charito Rangel; sisters-in-law Jane Smith and family of Nemaha, Lori Myers and son Gary of Des Moines; sister-in-law Marie Louis of Bondurant, niece Mary and husband Ben (Stoner), great nieces Betty and Josie and great nephew Louis of Bondurant. Also, Jill, Dell, and Julia Reuter of Charlotte, IA; cousins Heidi, Teresa, and Cathy; Staci, Paul and McKeehan Spragg of West Des Moines, IA; Denise Pontious and family of Sac City, IA, Pastors Jason and Jacob and families; Josh Herman and family of Iowa City, cousin Matt Eash of Iowa City; cousins Mark and Karen Tomkins, of Ames; Susan Bohlje of West Branch, Tom and Linda Jones of Gold Canyon, AZ; mother-in-law Marlene Myers of Storm Lake, and Ruth Eyman of Bettendorf and Cousin Mina Lea Johnson of Oxford; and close friend Evette Ortega. Also, the Vazquez family of Omaha, NE.
Special thanks to Dr. Bradly and Carrie Meyer of Okoboji Wellness Center; Erin and Teresa at Eden Restored; Dr. Julie and the staff at Lakeview Chiropractic clinic; Rose of St. Croix Hospice. Last, but not, least, the entire Faith Bible Church Family!

I considered Shari one of the closest friends I ever had. Shari was 2 years older than I was. We had both attended South East Junior High in Iowa City. I did not know Shari at that time, but she knew me. I was picked on in Junior High by the older girls. I lived in fear of one of those "mean girls" putting Nair in my hair or "swirling" me, but what I didn't know was that Shari had my back. She saw what those girls were doing and would have kicked their butts if they tried anything. We met a few years later at Systems Unlimited, working with special needs clients. We immediately felt a kinship, both spiritually and personally. She became like a sister to me. I was in her wedding to Jesus and she was in my wedding a few years later. We lost touch, much to my deepest regret, but through God's grace, He helped us find each other shortly before she passed. I wish we had had more time, but I am so grateful to have heard her voice one more time. I loved her and will miss know she is in this world, but will look forward to seeing her in the next. She was truly one of a kind and a remarkable woman!

Shari and I were childhood friends. We grew up in church together. So many fond memories of youth group, slumber parties, horseback riding and exploring in the woods on the Louis family property. Prayers for her family. Bobette (Dye) McGowan

Shari was the kindest and most loving and caring individual that I have ever met. She would give you the shirt off her back. She was a shining star!

Shari and I went to Switzerland together when I was 16 and she was 18. We had the most amazing time together, laughing every day. I remember her standing up on a local bus, with a bunch of older folks from the local farms, and acting like a tour guide. She had all of us laughing like crazy!

Shari was my best friend ever since I can remember. During our childhood, Shari and I were either at my house or hers. She was always more of a sister than a cousin to me. I will always treasure my memories of our time together.
