Sharon Adams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dahl Funeral Home - East Grand Forks on Jan. 17, 2026.
Sharon Adams, age 65, of East Grand Forks passed away peacefully on January 14th, 2026, at home in the arms of her family after a 22-month battle with brain cancer. She was an inspiration to all who knew her, fighting selflessly and silently with extraordinary grace. By her side through it all was her devoted husband, who stood with her unconditionally and with unwavering love every step of the way. Their bond was one of resilience, tenderness, and true love.

Sharon Kay Nelson was born August 7, 1960 in Grand Forks, ND to Harry and Eleanor (McKeever) Nelson. She grew up in East Grand Forks and graduated from Senior High in 1978. On August 18, 1979, Sharon married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Wayne Adams in East Grand Forks, where they made their home and raised their three daughters Heather, Amanda and Ashley. Sharon worked at Target for 33 years where she built many lifelong friendships and meaningful connections. She retired from Target in 2011. Sharon loved people so much, she came out of retirement, and went back to work part-time at Altru Clinic and H&R Block.

Sharon found joy in baking for others (her cupcakes and holiday treats were legendary), reading, gardening, bowling and spending time with her grandchildren. Above all, Sharon's faith, love for her family, and unwavering devotion to those she cherished, defined her life. She will be remembered for her quick wit, kind spirit, generous heart and the profound love she gave so freely. Sharon was the heart of her family and they will miss her dearly. Though our hearts are heavy, we will find comfort in knowing her legacy lives on – in the lessons she taught, the love she gave and the memories we will carry always.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Wayne Adams of East Grand Forks; daughters, Heather (Kevin) Weirich of Medina, MN, Amanda Adams of Grand Forks and Ashley Adams (Michael Hill) of Grand Forks; grandchildren, Ava, Ella, Max, and Greyson Weirich, Nora Gillespie and Hayden Hill; brother, Bob (Sandy) Nelson of East Grand Forks; and in-laws David (Kim) Adams of Grand Forks. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Eleanor Nelson; and brothers, Dennis and Kevin Nelson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 21st, 2026 at Sharon Lutheran Church, 1720 S 20th St, Grand Forks, ND.
