Sharon Alberta Akers

Sharon Alberta Long Akers, 79, of Christiansburg passed away February 17, 2026 surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Thomas and Mary Frances Blake Long; her husband of 58 years, Dillard Wayne Akers; her sister, Sandra Long Hawks; and her grandson, Matthew Smith.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and David Holcomb of Rogers, Arkansas, Pamela and Ronald Smith of Christiansburg, and Patricia (Trish) Colley of Christiansburg.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Leslie Holcomb, Katie Smith, James Holcomb, Joseph (Sara) Holcomb, Megan (Jess) Smith, Elizabeth Holcomb, and Jenny Colley; great-granddaughter, Estella Holcomb and Baby Holcomb (Joseph and Sara) due this September; sister, Janice (Mike) Lodge; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Duncan and Pastor Ronald Smith officiating. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
