Sharon Rose Austic of Watkins Glen passed away on January 19, 2026, at Guthrie Corning Hospital at the age of 84.
Born on July 16, 1941, in Ithaca, New York, Sharon was a daughter of the late Ivan and Annabelle (Drummond) Hess. Sharon was employed as a kitchen worker at Lakeside Nursing Home and then worked for many years at Babcock Poultry Farm.
Her kind-hearted spirit resonated deeply with everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She genuinely enjoyed being around people and her super sweet personality left a lasting impression on all.
Sharon found joy in playing euchre, cross word puzzles, knitting, and crocheting beautiful sweaters and afghans. She also had a large collection of frogs, each item having its own story.
Sharon is survived by her three children, Dee (Scott) Vesley, David (Susan) Austic, and Candice (Jayson) Stevenson; six grandchildren, Karyn, Miranda, Dylan, Cody, Brandon, and Samantha; six great-grandchildren, Olyvia, Bentley, Isabella, Sophia, Ava, and Aaliyah; sister, Sally DeNise; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her family was the center of her universe, and she never hesitated to shower them with love and affection.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Austic, her infant son, Scott; and sisters, Sandy Servoss, Edie Sanderson, and Linda Jones.
The family will be present to receive friends on January 26, 2026, from 11:00 to 12:00pm at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg. A memorial service will immediately follow at 12:00pm at the funeral home.
