Sharon Bateman Obituary
Sharon Becraft Bateman, born on June 18, 1944, in Norfolk Virginia went home to be with the Lord peacefully on January 11, 2026, at the age of 81.
Sharon loved being at home with her children. She was a Sunday School teacher, loved cats, flowers, dancing, and Elvis. Sharon retired as a Service Dispatcher where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. However, she found the most joy in spending time with her family, cherishing every moment shared with her loved ones.
Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved parents, George and Mae Becraft. Sharon is survived by her children, Sandy Cossu (Yves), Laura Snell (Kenny), Cathryn Johnson (Chuck) and John Tripp, and her brothers, Steve Becraft (Sandy), and Rick Becraft (Trish), as well as by her many friends who were touched by her kindness and warmth.
Sharon leaves behind a cherished family that was her greatest joy, including her grandchildren Derek (Kyrsten), Kenny (Stephanie), Andrea (David), David, Daniel (Ava), Lisa, Brandon (Sarah), Ross (Erika), Shanleigh (Micky), Lulu and Joe (Mariah). She also has 25 beloved great grandchildren.
Her faith, kindness, compassion and unwavering devotion will be deeply missed, but her legacy lives on in every life she touched.
A Celebration of Life to honor her will be held on January 25, 2026 at 6:00 pm at Maimonides Health Center, 6401 Auburn Drive, Virginia Beach. The family appreciates the support and condolences from all who knew her during this difficult time. Sharon will be deeply missed and forever loved and remembered.
