We are sad to announce the passing of Sharon Mae Blank, 79, on May 2, 2023, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. She was born in Anthony, Kansas on August 21, 1943, to Ralph and Marjorie (Bunce) Johnston.
Sharon graduated from Anthony High School in 1961, and then attended Kansas State University to study elementary education. She met Don while in Manhattan. She finished her degree at McPherson College after moving to the farm. She enjoyed farming with Don and their son Brad. Sharon and Don also enjoyed square dancing, where they met some of their best friends. Sharon was a member of the Starlight Square Dance Club, a co-founder of the Inman Booster Club, and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a big K-State fan and enjoyed attending games with her family. Sharon was so proud that all her grandkids attended or plan to attend K-State. She loved watching her grandkids participate in sports and other activities. Sharon was known for her wonderful cooking and baking, especially her creative cakes that she made for family and friends. She loved gardening with her daughter Kim and her grandkids. The Grandkids Garden sold their produce at the Reno County Farmers Market for the last 13 years.
On July 18, 1964, Sharon married Donald Blank in Anthony. They shared 36 years of marriage before he passed on November 23, 2000.
She is survived by: daughter, Kim Manke (Jason), Hutchinson; son, Brad Blank (Cheri), Hutchinson; and grandchildren, Taylor and Jaron Manke, Kyler, Kolby, and Kendyn Blank.
Sharon was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Ronald Johnston; and husband, Don Blank.
Funeral service will be 10 am Monday, May 8, 2023, at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 am to 5pm Saturday or 1 pm to 8 pm Sunday, with family present from 5 to 7 pm Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to HCC Endowment to Benefit the Don and Sharon Blank Scholarship, Hospice of Reno County, or Trinity United Methodist Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
