Our mother, Sharon Kay Bradley, born on September 1, 1945, in DeQueen, Arkansas, passed peacefully in her sleep on July 20, 2025, in Wortham, Texas and was welcomed by her Heavenly Father into the Kingdom of Heaven. She was a beloved mother, Nana, sister, and friend, whose life was a testament to the power of love, compassion, and unwavering faith.
Sharon was the daughter of Adrian Ulvog and Laura Thibodeaux, who instilled in her a strong faith in God and the value of hard work. She grew up in a military family moving often during her early childhood until settling in Lawton, Ok in junior high. She graduated from Lawton High School, married and went on to attend Cameron College, where she pursued her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. Throughout her life, Sharon devoted herself to nursing, working in various hospitals throughout Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas. She took great pride in her job, where her commitment to her coworkers and patients was always evident.
Sharon's dedication to nursing was surpassed only by her love for her family. Known as Nana to most who knew her, she was the glue that held us together for so many years. She is survived by her brothers, Larry Ulvog and Jerry Ulvog (Lynn), her children Leslie Cuevas, Scott Spaulding, Jennifer Curtis (Trevor), and Karin McCary (Henry), and her grandchildren, lovingly known as Nana's nine: Ryan Walters, Daniel Tubbs (Bryanna), Josh Spaulding, Matthew McCary, Caitlyn McCampbell, Allyson Spaulding, Emily McCary, Camryn McCampbell, and Michael McCary. She took immense joy and pride in her role as a Nana, embracing every moment with her great-grandchildren, Jacen, Brooks, Camille, Aiden, Grayson, Ashton, and a new addition, Baby Tubbs, due in October. She was Nana to so many more who knew her and shared her love.
A fiercely independent woman with a tough exterior, she had a sweet and generous heart that was always ready to help anyone in need with words of wisdom and encouragement. She touched many people with her kindness and her ability to connect with them even through brief encounters. She found joy in her many friendships. Always up for lunch or just a phone call, she made everyone feel important by remembering special dates She loved reading, Jeopardy, crossword puzzles, traveling, family gatherings, bowling, writing, gardening, cooking, and playing cards. She hated losing at cards to anyone and was very competitive. She cherished the laughter and joy that came from playing games with her great-grandchildren. They truly were her joy and heart.
She was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in San Antonio for many years where she actively volunteered with children and women's ministries before moving to be closer to family. She missed her church family and remained active in Services and Bible study through Zoom.
In addition to her immediate family, Sharon is survived by her Aunt Joanne Ulvog, whom she considered the sister she never had, several cousins, one niece and four nephews, as well as many extended family members and friends who will remember her kindness and strength.
We wish to express our deepest gratitude to Todd, Lisa, Shae and Yvonne, as well as Karla Morrow, NP, for the compassionate care and support they provided after Moms recent hospital stay. Your kindness and conversations meant the world to her and the family.
A memorial service will be held in San Antonio at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in October with a time and date TBD, giving family and friends the opportunity to celebrate Sharon's remarkable life and the indelible mark she left on those around her. In lieu of flowers, donations can made to a local women's shelter.
With broken hearts we raise a glass to a life well lived as we say goodbye to our mom, we hold close the memories and everlasting examples of her strength, love, independence, and unwavering faith. She is deeply loved and missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew her.
