Sharon Jeannine Carter passed from this life on January 17, 2025, at the age of 86, in Jennings, Oklahoma, with her family by her side.

Sharon was born on December 23, 1938, in Oilton, Oklahoma, the daughter of Willie Ray and Nellie Carol (Alspach) Boston. Sharon and her sister were later adopted by their grandparents, Samuel and Blanche (Gibson) Rader. She was raised and received her education in Oilton, where she later graduated with the Class of 1957. On November 13, 1959, in Reno, Nevada, Sharon was united in marriage to Leonard Ray Carter. The couple established their initial home in Gold Beach, Oregon, and later returned to Oilton, Oklahoma, in 1965. For a short time, Sharon worked at MunsingWear, and she helped Phyllis operate the Oilton Gusher. Later, in 1989, after moving to Jennings, she was elected as the Town Clerk in 1990, where she served until April 1999.

Sharon loved making all types of arts and crafts and traveling. Going camping and traveling with Leonard and going on trips with her family to Colorado and Florida were always memorable times. Getting all of her family together was special to Sharon. Going to listen to music at the Senior Citizens was a weekly outing. Sharon always loved being the mother to everyone. Sharon always loved to visit churches in the area with her sister Phyllis.

Survivors include her four children: Cindy Box of Jennings, Oklahoma; Roxane Luster and husband Jack of Oilton, Oklahoma; Gary Carter and wife Rachel of Jennings, Oklahoma; Carey Caudle Carter and husband Greg of Mannford, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Boston and Nellie Smith, husband Leonard Carter, sister Phyllis Patton Barrows, and a son-in-law, Mike Box.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Yale Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Randall Newby officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Cemetery in Oilton, Oklahoma. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will handle the arrangements.
