Sharon K. Carter, 82, passed away peacefully at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 with her family by her side. She was born on March 27, 1943, in Muncie, the daughter of Willie and Kathleen Carter, who preceded her in death.
Sharon graduated in 1961 from Muncie Central High School. She was a member of the cheer block and DECCA, where she worked at Ball Stores Department Store and stayed for several years after. She spent four years as an Apprentice Printer for the Muncie Press, then retired from the Muncie Public Library after 38 and a half years, mostly in the Audio-Visual Department. She was an avid Bearcat fan and attended all basketball games for several years, she loved the purple and white. After retirement, she volunteered at the Muncie Mission Food Pantry and Westminster Presbyterian Church in the nursey. Her volunteering brought her so much joy.
Sharon is survived by her sister, Beth Ann (Michael) Heath of Fishers; niece, Jami (Greg) Herring of LaFontaine; nephew, Andy (Becca) Heath of Indianapolis; great nieces and nephews are Zeb, Luke, and Kaydee Herring and Grayson and Madison Heath. Sharon loved all of them.
Sharon will be laid to rest next to her parents at Elm Ridge Cemetery during a private burial.
The family extends their special thanks to Yorktown Manor for their wonderful care of Sharon and for the friendships that were made along the way, and to I.U. Ball Memorial Hospital, fifth floor staff, for their wonderful care as well. We couldn't have done it without all of them.
All arrangements are entrusted to The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory; Washington Street Chapel and online condolences may be left for the family at www.meeksmortuary.com
