Sharon Kay Cunningham
of Nichols
Sharon Kay Cunningham, 81, of Nichols, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa. Born on January 23, 1944, in Sayre, Pa a daughter of the late Warren and Daisy A. Lattimer. Sharon's life was a testament to her strength, resilience, and dedication to those she loved.
Sharon's journey as the first female cop in California marked a significant milestone in the history of law enforcement. Her pioneering spirit paved the way for countless women to pursue their dreams in a field that had been, until her arrival, a male-dominated arena. Her courage and commitment to justice were not only exemplary but also an inspiration to all who knew her story. Sharon also served the community of the Ozarks.
Beyond her professional achievements, Sharon was a woman of many passions. Her love for painting was more than just a hobby; it was a way of connecting with her loved ones and the world around her. With each stroke of her brush, she captured the beauty she saw in everyday life, and through her heartfelt creations, she expressed her affection and care. Her children and grandchildren, who survive her, will forever treasure the cards and paintings she shared, each piece a lasting reminder of her talent and thoughtfulness. Her compassion extended to all living creatures. Sharon had a special place in her heart for animals, especially those with disabilities. She opened her heart to many dogs and cats, providing them with love, care, and a sanctuary. Her kindness knew no bounds, and her legacy of empathy will live on in the stories of the lives she touched, both human and animal.
Abiding with her wishes, there will be no services. Memories and condolences may be shared by visiting her guestbook at www.sutfinfuneralchapel.com Caring assistance is being provided by the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols.
