** Due to the inclement weather, the service for Sharon has been postponed until THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 29th at 11 AM, at Hope Lutheran Church South Campus with Visitation one hour prior to the service.
Sharon Anne Gunderson, 68, passed away at home, surrounded by her daughters, after a short illness, in the early hours of February 20th, 2024.
She was born to John and Anne Gunderson on August 6th, 1955, and grew up in Moorhead, MN, with her big sister, Linda, and little siblings, Steve and Joan. Extended family was never too far during her growing up years. When her dad recognized her clever nature early on and nicknamed her “egg head,” it took a while for little Sharon to understand it was a compliment, but it became a favorite memory. Although always quite the introvert, she made strong close friendships that lasted her entire life.
As a young woman, she found the most joy in raising her four girls with strong family values. Good manners were important, and she often got compliments about the sweet temperaments of her children. They were blessed to grow up in a house with humor and love.
More recently, happiness was found in her grandchildren. Whether it was hearing Mia share animal facts or Ollie’s little giggle, seeing Mac’s cowboy walk or Pom trying on her lipstick, having a tea party with baby Delphine, or getting a joke from Jude, playing in the sunshine with Pierce or finally being Rafey’s favorite grandma, she was happy to simply have them gathered around her.
A good night for her was a solitary one with cross stitch in hand and a cooking show on TV. There were always library books somewhere nearby, which she went through quickly before going back to check out another stack. She adored the feel of the sun shining down, avoided swimming (unless a grandchild asked her nicely), and created lasting memories with her talent for making holidays warm and beautiful.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anne Gunderson; and her brother, Steven Gunderson.
She is survived by her four daughters: Faith (Mark) Erickson, Hannah (Ethan) Curtis, Clara Alessi, Grace (John) Norton; her eight grandchildren: Mia Joy Curtis (11), Jude Henry Norton (8), Oliver John Willow Curtis (7), Pierce Fredrik Norton (6), Persephone Myrtle Irene Erickson (5), Rafe Samuel Norton (4), MacKinnon Paul Curtis (3), Delphine Virginia Anne Erickson (1); and her sisters: Linda Phillips and Joanne Gunderson.
She will be missed by many.
The Funeral Service for Sharon will be on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 11 AM at Hope Lutheran Church South Campus, Fargo with Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
