Sharon Colleen Hadrava Kenney, 85, of Moorhead, MN, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Bethany on University in Fargo, ND.

Sharon was born to Clark and Faye Gilbertson, with assistance from Grandma Amanda and Dr. Griffin, at their Fertile, MN home.

Sharon grew up most of her life in Bemidji, MN with her siblings, parents and grandparents. Sharon, being the oldest, had many responsibilities. She had lifetime friends, Nancy and Ida. They loved laughing, walking in the neighborhood, sleepovers, roller skating and dancing.

Sharon’s first job was Paul’s Pastry and later, City Drug, in Bemidji.

Through her friend, Ida, Sharon met “the one.” She married Dale Hadrava on December 29, 1956, and they made their home in Bemidji. They were blessed with 3 children, Ann, Mark and Timothy. Sharon moved to Moorhead, MN to get healthcare for Timothy. Dale remained in Bemidji. Timothy passed away December 18, 1968. Sharon stayed in Moorhead, working at Whitcomb and Sons as a manager/bookkeeper.

Sharon married Norm Kenney in 1973. In 1978 she attended NDSCS in Wahpeton, ND and graduated with her diploma in nursing (LPN). Nursing was her passion, and she was an excellent one at that. She was employed at St. Luke’s Hospital most of her career and then Dakota Clinic in Moorhead until she retired in August 1997.

Sharon traveled some after she retired. Hawaii was her favorite. Her grandchildren were her happiness. She loved baking, sleepovers and shopping with them. Then the great-grandchildren came, and she loved every picture and moment she had with them.

Norm took care of her until she became a resident at Ecumen in Moorhead and then skilled care at Bethany on 42nd in July 2018.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, David Gilbertson, Mark Gilbertson and Renee Richards; son, Timothy and second husband, Norm Kenney. She is survived by her daughter, Ann (Craig) Boisjolie, son, Mark (Reuchele) Hadrava; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Heather (Alex) Kerian (their children, Annabelle and Wesley), Haley (Devon) Wahl (their children, Lincoln and Haevyn), David Boisjolie; brother, Dan Gilbertson; her first husband, Dale Hadrava; sister-in-law, Judy Gilbertson; Norm’s children, Greg, Maureen, Kelly and Shawn; many nieces and nephews and her Bethany friends and residents.

Special thanks to Bethany on 42nd nurses and CNA’s, April and Lee of HIA Hospice, and close friends Bev, Kathy and Sharon, for their ongoing support.

A memorial service will be held Monday, July 21, 2025, at 11:00 A.M., with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Burial will be in Calvary Lutheran Cemetery, Bemidji, MN, on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 1:00 P.M.
