Sharon Ann Howie, age 63, of Albia, IA, formerly of Melrose, IA, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Oakwood Specialty Care in Albia. Sharon was born in Albia, IA, on July 15, 1962, to Joseph and Olive Marie (Lord) Howie. Sharon grew up attending the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School in Vinton, IA, where she graduated from High School. Following high school, Sharon moved to Des Moines where she lived on her own and received additional training from the Iowa Commission for the Blind. She had various jobs, including working at a local supermarket and at the school cafeteria. Sharon worked at Ragtime Industries in Albia for 22 years, where she took pride in assembling traps for Kness Manufacturing. She had many talents, especially knitting and doing crafts. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and word finds. She had a great sense of humor and was always ready to share a funny joke, story or parable with others. She was an animal lover of all sorts, but especially dogs and kittens. She was a woman of strong faith and loved her family deeply. Sharon is survived by 7 siblings, Bill (Vicki) Howie, Jim Howie, Donna Wood, Dorothy Wagner, Mary Pepmeyer, John (Susan) Howie, and Larry Howie; and a sister-in-law, Cathy Howie. Sharon is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Olive Howie; 2 brothers, Dick Howie and Bob Howie; a sister-in-law, Viola Howie; and a brother-in-law, Kevin Wood. A Celebration of Life visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Sharon's family present to greet family and friends. An open memorial has been established to the family.
