Sharon Lynn (Billing) King, 89, of Carmel, passed peacefully in her sleep at her home in Carmel on October 25, 2023. She was born on July 12, 1934, in Indianapolis as the daughter of Andrew and Annie Margaret Billing. She was predeceased by husband George King and daughter Julia Bittner.
Sharon graduated from Broad Ripple High School. She attended Butler University, was a member of Alpha Chi Omega, and participated in a number of beauty pageants in college. She received a Bachelors in Radio and TV, a Bachelors in Elementary Education, and a Masters in Special Education.
Sharon taught 6th through 8th grade with Indianapolis Public Schools for 38 years; her pride was in teaching gifted students for a number of years. She enjoyed gardening, rock collecting, and fossil hunting. Volunteer activities included the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis and Connor Prairie. After retirement Sharon was able to travel to a number of European countries, garden, and enjoy her dogs. Before her passing she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior.
There will be a private burial for family. A memorial service will be held for the public on Saturday, November 4th at 1 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park North Cemetery, 2706 Kessler Blvd W Dr, Indianapolis, IN. She is survived by daughters Dawn King of Indianapolis, Lisa King of Carmel, and son Andrew King of Indianapolis.
