Sharon-Lee (Briggs) O’Connell, passed away on October 6, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford.
She was the wife of John O’Connell.
Born in Brockton, MA, she was the daughter of the late James Edward Briggs Sr and Mariel (Duford) Newton.
Sharon grew up in Whitman, Ma where she went to Whitman Hanson High School. After school she spent a short time of her adulthood in Florida and Phoenix, Arizona. While in Arizona she pursued a degree in Phlebotomy. Sharon eventually made her way back to Massachusetts where she spent time in Bridgewater, Brockton and Taunton, Ma-where she resided at her passing. Sharon had a passion for cooking and passed along recipes from her French Canadian grandfather who was belovedly known as “Little Grandpa". She had a deep relationship with the Lord and spent many years of her life studying biblical texts. She loved classical music from artists such as Mozart and Beethoven. In most recent years she took up an interest in Kazakhstanian and Asian opera. She enjoyed musical events and theatre trips with her children and grandchildren. She loved being a fourth generation “Nana” to her grandchildren and never missed a birthday or holiday.
Besides her beloved husband John of 35 years, she is survived by her Children; Edward Cripps V and his wife Terri, Stephen Galvin, Jr., Rachel-Marie Quinton-Medeiros, Jessica Lee O’Connell, grandchildren; Alabama-Leigh Medeiros, Romeo Medeiros, Edward F. Cripps VI, brothers; Jeffrey Briggs, John Briggs, Jay Briggs and his wife Melanie, sister; Susan Clavin and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late James Briggs.
Visitation will be held on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25th, 2025 from 4-7pm with a Funeral Home Service at 6pm in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway Taunton, MA 02780.
