Sharon Leikvoll

Sharon Joy Sommer Leikvoll, (81), of Johnson City, TN, passed away peacefully at home

surrounded by family on Saturday November 22,2025 She is now at home with her Lord and savior.

Sharon was born on August 27, 1944, at Cook County Hospital. She was adopted by Chester J. and Ethel M. Sommer who became the parents of their "Rose of Sharon" taken from the bible and the "Joy" of their lives. She lived at home with her parents until her marriage to John C. Leikvoll, on January 15, 1965, at the East Bend Mennonite Church. She had one sister, Betty Lou Hinton, deceased on July 6, 2015.

Sharon is survived by her spouse, (John C. Leikvoll), daughter Kimberly D Leikvoll of Johnson City, TN and son Jonathon R Leikvoll (Sonya,) ( McKenna ) of Mahomet, IL, lots of nieces and nephews.

Sharon was predeceased in death by her parents, Chester J. and Ethel M. Sommer, sister Betty Lou Hinton, great-nephew Sean Wiese, half- brothers, Dale (Patricia) and Richard (Marge) LaRoe, half-sisters, Ruby (Russel) Harmon, Florence (Richard)Carpenter, Iana (John) Palmisano, Nina (Earl) Huffman, and LaVonne (Bonnie) (Clifford) Norton, Judy LaRoe and Danny LaRoe.

Sharon attended Fisher High School and then worked for many years as teller at Savings and Loans and Banks. Her latter years of work were a secretary at Walt Disney World in Florida. Sharon and John traveled all but 5 New England states, and been to Alaska and Hawaii, Norway, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and St. Johns. Sharon also enjoyed singing and was known as the "Vocal Velvet" in her yearbook. She would sing in church and in campgrounds when they would Snowbird to Florida.

Visitation will be at Jeffers Funeral Home 101 Graceland Ln Afton, TN 37616 visitation from 10 am to 11am with service following at 11 am. with Rev. Perry Cleek. Graveside committal service in Graceland Memorial Gardens, Afton, TN with Rev. Perry Cleek officiating. Jeffers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
