Sharon Ann Mackiewicz, of White Lake, died on January 24, 2025 at her home under the care of her family and LeRoyer Hospice. She was 85 years old. She was born on June 21, 1939 in Antigo, a daughter of Peter and Lorraine (Novak) O'Brien. She married James Mackiewicz on June 20, 1960 at St. Wencel Catholic Church in Deerbrook. He preceded her in death on June 20, 2020. Sharon was a 1957 graduate of Antigo High School. She continued her education at Langlade County Teachers College. She taught at Elmwood and Mountain Schools. In her youth she was a member of the Deerbrook Eager Beavers 4-H Club. She was a leader of the Trout Land 4-H club in Langlade and was a founder and leader for the Evergreen 4-H Club in White Lake, continuing as a leader for 37 years. At that time, she was a member of the 4-H Leaders Association, and was on the 4-H Board. Sharon was a member and then became a leader of the AMPI Dairy Promotion Committee, where she promoted the dairy industry in Langlade County and surrounding areas. She taught Ag in the classroom to fourth graders. She was also a member of the Cone Scoopers that built the little red barn and served ice cream at numerous events. Later in life she was a leader for the Crocker Kids 4-H Club. Sharon and Jim operated a registered Holstein herd and was a part of the Holstein Association, they hosted Twilight meetings often at their farm. They also hosted dairy judging, cooking classes, and gardening classes. In 2010 she was honored to host Breakfast on the Farm. Sharon had a heart for kids, through the years she has taken numerous kids into her home. She was known for her cooking, everyone got fed on the farm. Survivors include four children, Michael Mackiewicz of Antigo, Cindy (James) Reily of Rhinelander, Tom Mackiewicz of White Lake and Ann Boshan of White Lake; eight grandchildren, Edward Mackiewicz, Jessica (Mandy) Chroge, Jacklynn Reily, Franchesca Swim, Rebecca Mackiewicz, James Reily, Auston Boshan, Samantha (Zach) Pontefract; seven great-grandchildren, Linzie Swim, William Swim, Brantley Kor, Joshua Swim, Connor Swim, Scarlett Swim, and Maximilian Chroge; four sisters, Margaret (Wayne) Culpitt of Sparta, Geraldine Lois Kridler of Deerbrook, Laurel O'Brien of Antigo, and Patricia (Ron) Rode of Jefferson. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sons, baby John and Jamie Brian Mackiewicz. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 1, at 11:30 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Wes Jedras officiating. Burial will take place in Langlade Cemetery in the Spring.
