Sharon Anne McDonnell

Sharon A. McDonnell (Sherry) 79, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025. She was born on June 23, 1946, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of the late Martin W. Wahler and Marjorie A. (McGinnis) Wahler.

Sherry was the beloved wife of Arthur McDonnell, with whom she shared many years of love and companionship. She had two children, M. Colleen Byrne of Northern Virginia, and W. Bryan Byrne of South Carolina. She is also survived by her sisters, Melanie Edell, Kathleen Matthews, and Rosemary Wahler.

For more than twenty years, Sherry served in various nursing roles, dedicating herself to the care and comfort of others. Beyond her professional life, she was a gifted artist, with a particular love for watercolor painting and quilting. Her creativity, warmth, and humor touched all who knew her.

Sherry will be remembered as a deeply caring person with a zest for life and a joyful sense of humor. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, laughter, and artistry.

A celebration of Sherry's life will be held at a later date.
