Youngstown - Sharon Lynn Moison, 74, passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, October 21, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Sharon was born June 22, 1950 in Youngstown, OH, a daughter of the late Harold and Elsie (McHugh) Shaffer.
She graduated from East High School and was a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley.
Sharon worked for GM Legal Services in Austintown as a secretary for several years before she became a devoted homemaker, caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren.
She was devoted to her faith and an active member of Gibson Heights Second Presbyterian Church in Youngstown, where she served as a Deacon, Elder, a member of the Ladies Guild, a Chair of the Worship and Evangelism Committee, helped with the church Youth Group program, volunteer for the Community Free Meal Program at the church and led the Brown Baggers social group.
Sharon is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Daniel G. Moison, whom she married on July 26, 1969; two sons, Daniel G. (Krystal) Moison II of Howland, OH, and Brad D. Moison of Youngstown, OH; two grandchildren, Chloe Moison and Daniel Moison III; two brothers, James Shaffer of Akron, OH, and Jack (Tina) Shaffer of Poland, OH; a sister-in-law, Loretta Shaffer of Conneaut, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold "Dutch" Shaffer and Elmore "Moe" Shaffer; two sisters, Carole Burke and Margaret Ruess; two sisters-in-law, Marlene Shaffer and Jackie Shaffer; and brothers-in-law, Robert Burke and Joseph Ruess.
Family and friends may call on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market Street in Boardman and on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Gibson Heights Second Presbyterian Church, 755 E. Dewey Avenue, in Youngstown. There will be a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Richard Lintz officiating. Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Boardman.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to the Mahoning Valley Second Harvest, 2805 Salt Springs Rd., Youngstown, OH 44509 in memory of Sharon.
