Sharon Kay Phillips, 69 of Palmyra, passed away peacefully Sept 10,2025, surrounded by her family. She was born May 24, 1956, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Junior Garner and Mary Ida Garner VanHyning. She married Douglas R. Phillips on May 20, 1977, and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by three daughters, Melanie Huner of Palmyra, Sheila (husband Jeremy) Stewart, and Kimberly (husband Matthew) Wankel both of Jacksonville; one step son, Eric (wife Lucretia) Rutherford; eight grandchildren, Cody (wife Erica) Stewart, RJ (fiancé Evie) Huner, Braiden Wankel, Dyllan Wankel, Lacie Wankel, Izayia Rutherford, Alexis Rutherford, and Jalen Rutherford; three great grandchildren, Violette Stewart, Caspian Stewart, Feyre Huner and one due March 2026; two sisters, Judy Gardner and Donna VanHyning; two brothers, Ron Garner and Kevin (wife Sandy) VanHyning; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert Garner.
Mrs. Phillips had been a visiting nurse for many years; she then worked at PMAH Emergency Department before retiring. She loved doing diamond painting and spending time with her family.
A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. A graveside service will follow on Wednesday, September 17 at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
