Sharon Pierce Obituary
Sharon grew up in Glenwood and attended Glenwood Elementary School. Later she went to Dickenson Junior High School. Sharon graduated from Chattanooga Central in 1964 and attended Covenant College on Lookout Mountain.
Sharon led a life of service working at the Census Bureau followed by 25 years at the U. S. Post office. She loved animals and was a lifelong equestrian who raised and rescued horses on her farm.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at Highland Park Baptist Church and also attended Westminster Presbyterian Church in Glenwood during her youth. She was an active member at Lake Drive Baptist Church in Sale Creek, Tennessee where she was affectionately known as the "candy lady" who welcomed everyone who walked through the church doors.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley Eldridge Gardenhire and Martha Stutz Gardenhire. Paternal Grandparents William D. Gardenhire, Sr. and Alice Wilson Gardenhire. Maternal grandparents Charles F. Stutz and Della Lowry Stutz.
Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Brand, Michelle Pierce-Lester (Bobby), and brother Senator Todd Gardenhire (Sylvia), grandchildren Michelle Spencer (Jake), John Brand (Katie), Tripp Lester, Pierce Lester and Paul Lester and great grandchildren Amelia Spencer, Edison Brand, Grace Brand and Samuel Brand.
The memorial service will take place on Friday, October 10 at 1pm at Lake Drive Baptist Church with pastors David Hayes and Toby Brogden with reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Lake Drive Baptist Church.
