Sharon Ione Smoot was born to Harold and Vennetta Templeton, both of whom preceded her in death. A proud graduate of Linton-Stockton High School, she went on to complete her studies at Indiana University School of X-Ray Technology. Sharon dedicated her professional life to service others as an X-Ray Technologist and also played a vital role in the family business, Smoot Gas Stations, working with brands such as Texaco, Mobil, Sunoco, and Amoco.
In 1964 Sharon married Charles Richard (Dick) Smoot. Together they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage until his passing. She was a devoted mother to Anne Marie (Smoot) Cox, who passed away in 2022 and is deeply missed. Sharon was also preceded in death by her stepson, Richard Allen Smoot; her brothers: Jack and Ronald Templeton; and her Grandparents: Elmer and Gertrude Templeton and John and Alma Jerrels.
She is lovingly remembered by Cindy Smoot, Missy and Les Taulbee, Geoff Cox, and Caden Cox, and her dear friend Ben Short.
A faithful member of St. Luke’s Methodist Church, Sharon lived a life of quiet strength, compassion, and dedication to family and community. In her memory, contributions may be made to a charity of her choice.
