John Engstrom Obituary
John Gordon Engstrom, born on October 29, 1936, in Pontiac Michigan and resident of Carmel Indiana passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025. He was the son of Albert William Engstrom and Helen Marie (Bechtel) Engstrom and brother to William Engstrom. John graduated from Avondale High School, Auburn Hills Michigan in 1954 and went on to obtain a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University in 1961 and a master’s degree in engineering from NYU in 1963.
John had a long career with AT&T Bell Labs working in New Jersey and Indianapolis before retiring in May 1998. He also contributed to innovation that occurred during the "Space Race" in the 1960s through his work at Bendix Corporation.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Mary Ann (Arszman) Engstrom, daughters Karen Engstrom (Smiley El Abd) and Kathryn Engstrom (Scott Simmons), three grandchildren, one great grandchild and three stepchildren.
